: I bought a new computer and run windows xp.
Have you called them and asked?

:I have microsoft standard edition
I'm assuming you mean microsoft office?

: and it keeps asking me to convert.
Convert to what? Microsoft Beliefs... Don't give in to the dark side...
j/k, is outlook express or your current email asking to convert to outlook?

:My e-mail will not work but I don't want
: to convert to the full edition.
Why not? If you payed for standard edition, you have the full version of
outlook

:How do I make my e-mail (outlook) work
: without converting to the full edition?
Not sure without more info

it tells me to convert to the full edition. I don't think I got the full
editon because it keeps telling me that it is a trial offer. Yes I did mean
microsoft office. I have not tried to call them as of yet. Thought I would
try this route first. No it is not outlook express. It is just outlook. Here
is more info. Can you help me? Do you know how to reach them by phone? Thnk
you very much for your help.

Then you did not get Microsoft Office Standard edition. Standard comes with
the full (not trial) versions of Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. See
the following link for more information

I did not mean to call Microsoft, that is a waste of time (and you most
likely have OEM so they won't talk to you anyway unless you pay). I was
referring to calling whoever you purchased the software / computer from
(assuming the software came pre-installed) and asking for support.

I guess the end result is regardless of what software you have, it
apparently is not a full version of Outlook. If you want free email
software then check out Outlook Express
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/oe/
or Mozilla Thunderbird
http://www.mozilla.org/products/thunderbird/
or Eudora
http://www.eudora.com/download/
to a name a few of the more popular free email programs. If you did want to
buy Outlook, this site has it for only $28 USD
