There isn;t a newsgroup for outlook live and the password should never
expire - even if you didn't log into the account in more than 30 days as
paid accounts are good until expiry. Are you sure you are using the correct
password (and don't have caps lock on)?

Did you try logging in via www.hotmail.com?

Thanks for responding, Diane. The problem with my password is that I can't
remember it. I changed it back in December, wrote it to an outlook note to
save it. Then my hard disk crashed and I lost all of my outlook notes. So
now I can't log in.

I tried going to hotmaildotcom, but the same thing happens there as happens
when i try to log in from msndotcom. I get the login page and I enter my
hotmail address and my password (or at least the one I remember). I'm then
sent to a security screen where I type in an 8 digit letter/number
combination as indicated on the security screen. After I hit enter, I'm sent
back to the hotmail signin screen. I then enter my hotmail address and
password and hit enter ... and then back to the security screen ... so on.
It's like something is 'stuck' somewhere. Any suggestions?

I've tried a few other things and now I'm really confused.

Apparently I can get into hotmail ... at least to a point. For example, I
can go to account services to see my profile, change my password, etc.
However, I can't seem to check my mailbox. For example, when I click on the
MY MSN from the MSNdotcom main page, I can see that I have hotmail waiting
because I can see the message headers on the MY MSN page. But if I try to
open a message, I get directed back to the hotmail signin screen ... where I
can't get past the security screen / login screen cycle.

either the first page you get into is a passport page or passport
authentication is acting goofy. There are often problems with passport if
you set it to remember the password and that could be the problem. Either
delete the cookies or try opera or Netscape.

I deleted the cookies, no change. I also downloaded and tried Opera, no
change.

Does it matter that I once used Outlook Live!? I stopped using it in
December and reset Outlook to not look at my Hotmail account.

did you cancel the outlook live account (or let it expire) or just stop
using it in outlook? as long as it's still valid to be used with the outlook
connector (or http in outlook or outlook express) it shouldn't be a problem.
But if the account expired, it;'s hard to say if they did something to
disable it.

My outlook live account is stil active ... and your last post tickled
something in the back of my mind. I looked at the way I had the hotmail
account set up in outlook and found a small flaw in the setup .... comma
instead of a period. Thanks for the help. Knew it had to be something at my
end, just didn't know where to look.
