Recently-since I have installed the Microsoft security patches on 2/8/2005-I
have not been able to effectively use Microsoft Outlook 2003 to access my
hotmail accounts. The program usually crashes or I get one of the following
messages:

Task 'mya...@hotmail.com: Folder:Inbox Synchronizing headers.' reported
error (0x800CCC19) : 'A timeout occurred while communicating with the server.'

OR

'Unable to establish connection to hotmail server...'

Please help!

Thanx,
Jay

You have to upgrade your Hotmail account to Hotmail Plus in order to
download your Hotmail to Outlook or Outlook Express. They say it's for
security reasons. They didn't publicize this change very well. You will
get more storage space with the upgrade. Costs $20.00/yr.

This just means the Hotmail servers are not responding. After a while they will come back. When using a Free service
such as Hotmail where Outlook will query the servers periodically like every 5 mins you will have to put up with that.
Hotmail mostly doesn't receive money for their service so you get what you pay for. Those that do pay there are in the
same boat.
