I recently bought new Dell Computer, installed broadband and Office XP 2002.
When I use Outlook a window opens asking for user name and password for
hotmail. Although my internet connection is open and I can directly access
hotmail through Internet explorer the same name and password don't seem to
work within Outlook no matter how many times I enter it either in the window
that opens or within Email Accounts

Do you have a paid Hotmail subscription?

I don't think Outlook XP supports the HTTP protocol that hotmail uses,
Outlook Express or Outlook 2003 does.

However, you now need to subscribe to 'Hotmail Plus' to use hotmail in
Outlook 2003 or Outlook Express. It's not too expensive although it is
offered free with most other email websites.

So does Outlook 2002.

Relatively inexpensive, IMO.
