Using XP, Outlook 2007.

When archiving yesterday, I rec'd message:
Error while archiving folder "[folder name]" in store "Personal Folders".
The file C:\Documents and Settings\Bob\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook\archive.pst has reached its maximum size. To reduce
the amount of data in this file, select some items that you no longer need,
and then permanently delete them by pressing SHIFT+DELETE. You could also
consider using the new Outlook Personal Folders file (.pst) introduced with
Outlook 2003 that provides greater capacity for storing items and folders.

I upgraded directly from 2000 to 2007 a couple of years ago. How do I use
the "new Outlook Personal Folders file (.pst)" to increase archive size?

Bob G.

Disconnect your archive.pst via File-> Data File Management...
Close Outlook and browse to the location of archive.pst and rename it to for
instance archive2009.pst
The next time that AutoArchive runs, it will create a new archive file in
Unicode format.
If you want to consolidate these 2 archives, connect to archive2009.pst via;
File-> Open-> Outlook Data File...
You can now move or copy the contents from 1 pst-file to the other.

Thanks, but I may be missing the obvious: Exactly how to I copy the
contents Archive2009,pst to the new archive file so it's all in one?

Once you've got it reconnected to Outlook, you can move the items around
like you'd do normally. For the Calendar, it would be easiest to use a list
would like All Appointments.
