Spell checking and custom dictionaries

Hi
I've got a user who's PC keeps defaulting to use the English(US) spell check
dictionary, instead of English(UK). No matter what I try, I can't remove the
US dictionary as an option from the languages tab so that it only checks
using the UK option

Also, in the course of trying to fix this, his custom dictionary now no
longer accepts new entries!
