I cant send email with Outlook 2002 on Windows 2000 Pro.
Synch to both to recv is working fine. All updates
current. Problem seems to have recently developed, well
after installing a MS MN-700 G Base Wireless (currently
running with wires) router/firewall. What Outlook or
Router setting could be causing this and how was it
changed to cause it? Any thoughts?

Sounds like your router/firewall might be blocking port 25 (which is used to
send via SMTP). Are you getting any error messages? If so what are they?

Thanks for the response. I tested Outlook Express, it
sends email okay. The errors for Outlook 2002 send/recv
are:
0x8004210B .... "time-out waitng for response from sending
SMTP server"
and
0x800CCC0B .... "unknown error"
How do I check the Microsoft router to see if it is
blocking the send port 25? Also the Router Broadband
Utility is telling me my computer is using a "public IP
address not in the range set aside for private networks"
Is this a bad thing? If so how do I change it?

An update...the public IP issue I raised has been
resolved. I was testing connecting the DSL modem directly
to the PC to try and isolate a problem with putting the
router in my network when the public IP address message
came up. My mistake.
Also, based on a suggestion from another poster, I
disabled my Norton virus check on outbound email I am
trying to send. That freed the Outbox and Outlook sends
seemed to work fine. Is this mis-coordination between
Outlook and Norton Antivirus that needs to be fixed?

See if Symantec has an update to Norton that fixes the problem. I believe
they do.
