When do I "stop processing more rules?"

Using Outlook 2003, via MS Exchange Server.
Each rule in Tools>Rules and Alerts contains the option "stop processing
more rules". Can some wise person explain what this actually means? If I
have ten rules, and check this box in the first rule, does this mean the
next 9 rules will not run? I've found plenty of websites that discuss the
"stop processing more rules" command, but I have so far not found any
explanation I could understand :-)

When an e-mail arrives rules will be processes in the order they appear
in the listing. If the after the first rule is processed the second rule
will be processed UNLESS the first rule is true AND it has Stop
processing more rules.

All messages will be checked against all rules in the sorted order. If a
rule applies to a message and this rule has the "stop processing more rules"
action enabled, then that message will not be checked against any other
rules and Outlook will skip to the next new message that will be checked
against all rules again.

It usually is intended to prevent duplication of emails via a move action
when multiple move rules could apply to a single message.
