hotmail hasn't offered pop and SMTP for many years. Unless you pay for
access, you'll need a 3rd party utility.

I have 2 hotmail accounts setup in Outlook 2003 and was never prompted for
the server info.

Just do tools>Email accounts.
Click on add new email account> next.
You should see a list of 5 types of accounts.
Choose "HTTP" and click next.
Now you should see "Hotmail" listed as the service provider on the right
side of the window.
Fill in the un & pw info and your all set.
