I cannot access a number of folders: Outbox, Drafts, Inbox, etc. The error
message reads: "Unable to display the folder. Microsoft Office Outlook could
not access the specified folder location." I've done a search for the
folders on the hard drive -- can't find them. I've been told that these
folders must have been deleted, but don't see how that could have happened.
Is there any other explanation? Ideas are appreciated.

What version of Outlook are you using? All the service packs installed?

Presuming you are using Outlook, not sure how you will find "folders" on
your hard drive - they are part of the .pst file, not separate files.

If the folders were deleted, have you looked in the Deleted Items folder
(presuming you can look at that - you didn't include it in your list) - any
folders under it? Look for a "+" next to the folder name. Click on View,
Folders to see the folder list if you haven't already.

Have you searched your hard drive for "*.pst" ? Do you know that Outlook is
opening the right outlook.pst file?

If that doesn't help, and presuming you are using Outlook, check out:

Good luck.

As Bruce said, what version? If you're using 97 then you should view your
folder list then delete those items off of the outlook bar and the drag them
from the folder list.

Thanks for the help. Unfortunately, I'm still struggling. A few more
details: I'm using Outlook 2003, service packs installed. The Deleted Items
folder is also among those unavailable: the same error prompt. I've searched
the hard drive for .pst files, and come up with files named "mailbox,"
"Personal Folders(1)" and "Jennifer's Old stuff" (former employee using this
Outlook). I ran the Inbox Repair tool scanpst on the first two, found errors
in the Personal Folders(1), which were repaired. Opening Outlook, I went to
Go, Folder List, showing All Folders. The Folders I want, under the
"Mailbox" title, which can't be expanded, are still unavailable: "The set of
folders could not be opened." Please let me know if you have any more ideas.
I appreciate the help.
