When this update was applied email stopped working with error messages
"server not found" etc. Removal of update restored email. Happened on Vista
and XP.

which update is it? http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=953437 is coming up
with a file not found.

automatically again with the same result!

what firewall are you using? make sure its allowing the version of outlook
listed in help, about. Also, if you didn't reboot after installing it, do
so.
