I have already read the postings on removing the extra line breaks from the
signature file. This is a question about Outlook adding 2-3 lines *before*
the signature in a new message.

I am using HTML format, but allowing Outlook to provide editing rather than
Word (too many resources used up creating an email). My signature file
appears as follows (after editing using DEL and SHIFT+ENTER to remove extra
line breaks):
-----
name
company
phone
email

However, when I create a message in Outlook, I see this:

-----
name
company
phone
email

For some reason, there are extra lines added to the beginning of the message
when I use a signature since they are not present when I do not use a
signature. I understand that the application neeeds to provide space for
writing the message, but a single line would be sufficient.
Thanks in advance.

Outlook appends you signature but you have to be entering the body of
your message somewhere. So Outlook is putting in a couple of spacer
lines so you don't have to when adding your message.
