Recently I had to restore my Outlook program. When I went to look at my
inbox, addresses, and calendar evrything that was there prior to the reload
was gone. I have some backups but I have not figured out where the outlook
data is stored. Can anyone help me?
Thanks
Vic

Hi - I've just upgraded from Outlook 2000 to 2003 and have the same problem.
Have you managed to sort this one out yet?
Cheers

As long as you are not using an Exchange Server account, your Mailbox ist
stored in a *.pst file (normally Outlook.pst) in your user profile. You may
have to make hidden and system files visible to spot it.

Thanks

look for outlook.PST; it could be a hidden file (arranjack)

Thanks! You were correct. Now, I would like to know when does the archive
copy get created. Is it everytime that Outlook is closed?

To which "archive copy" do you refer? Archiving in Outlook isn't copying.
Archiving moves older items from your main folders to a set of archive
folders contained in a separate PST. This happens either when you tell
Outlook to do it or one the schedule you have created in Outlook. You'll
know the answer because you will have set it up.

Archiving is not backup, either. Outlook has no built-in backup feature.
Unless you perform the backup (which does not involved exporting, by the
way), there will be no backup.

Perhaps I don't undersatnd the question and if you elucidate, I will.

Brian,
Thanks!
Your answers are right on the "money." I now understand exactly what
Microsoft is doing and the files that I need to work with. Why couldn't
Microsoft have put this information somewhere easily accessible?
