Have had a problem since end Dec whereby Outlook is not linking with my ISP -
error code above received and listed as 'server interrupted'. ISP webmail OK
for it's not that. Spoke to MS support and they suggested it was Nortons -
turned firewall off and emails did come flooding through. They gave me a link
to Symantec to re open the port:
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nip.nsf/docid/2005083015103436?Open&src=eu_sg&docid=2005020123585136&nsf=nip.nsf&view=3897bf24c622c3ef85256eda00456216&dtype=&prod=Norton%20Internet%20Security&ver=2005&osv=&osv_lvl=&seg=

This tells you to run something called ISRlRstr.exe. I did that - not only
does it still not work, but now it doesn't even work when I turn off the
firewall!

Any ideas please - it's driving me round the bend

Thanks, Lisa

"Norton" doesn't give a clue as to WHAT you have installed. There are a LOT
of products under the Norton family brand. Maybe they meant to disable
e-mail scanning but you went off playing with their firewall.

Maybe the above will help a bit.

Thanks Bob - this is what the v helpful person on MS helpdesk gave me, but
when I followed these instructions (& I think I did it correctly, as the
support guy at Symantec walked me through exactly the same process) it seems
to have blocked the ports?

What I can't understand is if the problem is with my firewall (which is
seemed to be, as turning it off in the first instance seemed to unblock it),
how can resetting my firewall to normal block it back up again?

Please help if you have any thoughts.......am getting nowhere fast!

UPDATE: Seems it was a problem with Norton Internet Security after all. My
2005 subscription lapsed today, and Outlook works fine with my new 2006 NIS
subscription.

So not quite sure why the Symantec help didn't work!
