Read Reciepts

Is there any sort of registry hack to force all users on a domain to accept
read reciepts? I ask this because a number of people in our company for some
reason choose not to accept the read reciept, and therefore not allowing us
to know whether they have read them or not.
This is for outlook 2007.

You can set it as a policy.
Note that receiving a receipt doesn't say anything about if they actually
read it or not. It only tells you that they've marked it as read. There are
good reasons for not sending out read receipts. The fact that some people
overdue it and set it on each and every email is one of them. If people are
really against sending out a read receipt and you start forcing them to send
one, they will probably stop marking emails as read. The end result would be
that everybody is working less efficient. Instructing people how to use
features and how to behave is always better. Trying to correct behavioral
problems by means of technology often will lead to nowhere.

Thanks for the quick response. But all we need to know is that they have
recieved the e-mail and read it. People often click "no" to returning a read
reciept, but reply back with a written e-mail 10 minutes later. This is what
I don't understand, why would people not want you to know that they have read
your e-mail, but send an e-mail back 5-10 minutes later?

Also where would we find this policy, we have searched through but have
found nothing of the sort.

Actually that is another good reason not to send read receipts; it's
redundant and another example of people overusing the feature. Why send me
an email with a question you know I need to reply to and ask for a read
receipt? I wouldn't send one either as my reply is another indication that
I've read it. A good example of using read receipts is when you communicate
something important and the email doesn't invite to send a direct reply.

Anyway, did you install the Office Outlook 2007 policy templates already?
From there you just follow the same path as you would in Outlook to find the
setting.

Thats fair with what you say, but we feel that it is necessary for people to
send a response when we ask for one. Thank you for that link, with that i
have managed to get the correct ADM files (which was exactly what I was
looking for in the first place). Thanks for your help.
