archiving

outlook 2003> In my mail folders area I have my personal folder and an
archive folder. When I run archive I select/highlight the personal folders
and then run archive items older than whatever date. When I do this a second
archive folder appears in my all mail folders area but it only shows the
most recent items that I have archived. This information has not been added
to the larger of the two archive folders.

What is the archive file path set to in File | Archive, and is it pointing
to the archive file you already have open in the Folder List? It doesn't
sound like it...

No you are right, the main archive folder is C:\Documents and
Settings\Dad\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\archive
backup And the smaller (newer one that has appeared below it is)
C:\Documents and Settings\Dad\My Documents\archive backup.pst.

I notice that one has a pst. and the other one doesn't the one without the
pst is the one with all of my archived information in it. It appears in my
Outlook folder as an all files Archive backup file. The Outlook file appears
as a pst file with the outlook 2003 logo.

I now need to know how to transfer the newest data from the lesser of the
two archive folders to the greater.

If that makes any sense

Open the second .PST file in Outlook using File | Open | Outlook Data File.
With both archive files open in your Folder List, you can simply drag and
drop information from one to the other. User-created folders can be dragged
over in their entirety, but default folders can't -- for those, switch to a
table view like By Category, select all items using CTRL+A, and drag the
group of items to the other .PST. Once you're done moving items, close the
.PST you don't need -- right-click its root folder and click Close.

Thanks Jocelyn, I thought that was how to do it but I wasn't sure. I have my
system set to autoarchive every day and I now have lots of mails in the
second archive pst so I just wanted to make sure first. Thanks again
