how do I save e-mails

I am thinking about reformatting my hard drive, but assume I need a way to
save e-mails - tose in my inbox and sent as well as my address book. How do
you save e-mails

This might be helpful since you didn't give detail about what version of
Microsoft Outlook you are using.

File>Import and Export>Export to a File>Personal File Folder .pst >select
your folders and a place to keep them (like an external hard drive).

Don't forget to save your "contacts" folder (address book).

After you re-format and load outlook, repeat the steps above, but this time
import your .pst folders and it'll put your emails back in.

Absolutely NOT. I is NOT necessary to do any exporting at all. Just close
Outlook and copy the pst file.

Close Outlook and copy your pst file. That's all you need to do.
Ignore the post about exporting and importing - it's wrong and will usually
cause problems.
