Sorting contacts by last name

Hello,

I've read about this issue before in this newsgroup but the solution
provided by MVP Russ Valentine didn't satisfy me.

Is there a way to sort contacts by last name when I click the "TO:" button
in a new message form? It seems to me that the only way is to switch the
last and the first name when I save the contact...it doens't appear to be
very elegant.

There is a way, but first we must know what Outlook version and mail support
mode you are using. Depending on your version and mail support mode of
Outlook, you can sort the Outlook Address Book this way (check for your mode
on the second line of the Help menu > About):

97, 98/2000 in Corporate/Workgroup mode:
Tools menu > Services > Highlight the Outlook Address Book service > Click
Properties > Set sort order

98/2000 Internet Mail Only:
Tools menu > Address Book > View menu > Sort by

Outlook 2002:
Go to Tools > E-mail accounts > View or change existing directories or
address books > Outlook Address Book > Change. > Set your sort order there
