Hi, everyone

I double clicked the Phone/Fax number field in Contact. "Check Phone number"
dialog box popup. I click OK button to close the dialog box. Outlook will
automatically add country code to these fields.

For example: If my phone number is 27553434. It will be changed to +852
27553484
My Country code is Hong Kong (852)

How to disable this feature?

Many thanks
Ming

From the Contacts Folder:
Actions > Call Contact > New Call... > Dialing options...
Uncheck the option.

Hi, Russ

Thank you for your response

Sorry, I confuse the question.
Although the Check box in Dialing option which can disable the "enforce add
country code to Phone/Fax field"
My situation is different. You can duplicate my question as follow

1. Set the Country to Hong Kong in Dialing Properties in Contacts.
2. Of course, you need uncheck the "Automatically add country code to local
fax number" in Dialing options
3. Create a new contact. Type in a Phone number.
In this example: 27553434
So far, there have no strange in the contact phone number field
4. Double click the Phone number field. The "Check Phone Number" window
popup
5. Click OK button in "Check Phone Number" to close
6. Outlook will add country code to the phone number. It becomes

+852 27552152

Although I can modify the number manually. Can I disable this outllook
inherit behaviour?

Thanks
Ming

I know of no way to disable that behavior.

I think I've just figured out a way to disable this so-called feature:
Set your default area code to "1". (The way Outlook automatically
formats telephone numbers is a real annoyance.) If you set your area
code to just the digit 1, Microsoft Outlook will leave your telephone
number format alone!
