I installed Office XP last night and unwittingly caused my Office Assistant
(real, not virtual) a major headache.

We shared our calendars using Net Folders (we don't have Exchange and don't plan
on acquiring it - it's only a 2 person home office). I don't plan to upgrade her
to XP so she's still using Outlook 2000.

Is there anything (3rd party app)that would offer the ease of use in being to
access a user's calendar if they're using XP. Was Net Folders so much of a
security risk that MS dropped support? I really would like a similar solution to
the dilemna we now face.

Any thoughts are welcome.

Thanks.

Paul

I think Microsoft dropped support for Net Folders in part because it didn't
work very well. You might want to look into the web-based sharing solutions
like Visto. See http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/ol2002/missing.htm#collab
for other ideas.

Sue,

What a treat to find not only site resources, but knowledgeable human resources
on the web who are willing to share their experience and knowledge.

While I appreciate some of the new features of the XP suite, I'm afraid I have to
fall into the group of people who are undecided as to the merits of the new suite
as an upgrade - particularly for the price and because of the new licensing
conditions.

While I've seen an overall increase in the speed of the applications, and I
welcome any features that will help to improve my current under-utilization of
Word, Excel and Access, dropping features like Net Folders forces people into an
unpleasant situation.

I will not BUY Exchange to get the functionality I need on my internal network.
Why would MS not refine this solution for small businesses rather than try to
gouge them into this sort of forced purchase. I'll definitely investigate 3rd
party products as a result of this little snafu (granted I should have done a
little digging first, but didn't knwo where to look, and was so busy that I
didn't really give myself the time either).

Anyway, thanks again.

Post back if you find any that work particularly well as a Net Folders
substitute. We (the Outlook MVPs) are continuing to look as well.
