I'm receiving the following two alerts in SCOM 2007. Also, I have these in
the Operations Manager log in addition to the final entry at the bottom. I
cannot determine the cause and resolution - but it seems like it is an access
privileges thing. I was hoping someone could provide guidance on this. I've
tried to use VBScript to access the WMI information for SQL Server, but I
continuously get errors (null value after running the ExecQuery command),
which I believe are what is causing these errors. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

Tim

Hello,

I am receiving something similar, but it only appears to be affecting W2K
agents. The exact Event ID verbiage is listed below:
Event Type: Warning
Event Source: Health Service Modules
Event Category: None
Event ID: 10401
Date: 3/13/2009
Time: 6:44:08 AM
User: N/A
Computer: RTPOC08
Description:
Module was unable to connect to namespace '\\.\ROOT\CIMV2'

This has happened 1 times since this instance was loaded.

HRESULT: 0x80041015 Details: Transport failure

One or more workflows were affected by this.

Workflow name: <different discovery types>
Instance name: rtpoc08.ppdi.com
Instance ID: {AF128054-EB94-95D7-4CE0-B28F44180916}
Management group: US-MGMTGRP

Any ideas on what's going on here?

Thanks,
Sven

Hi Sven,

This particular error seems to be related to some intermittent access to
network:

WBEM_E_TRANSPORT_FAILURE
2147749909
0x80041015
Networking error that prevents normal operation has occurred.

You could launch wbemtest for this machine (locally + remotely) and verify
that you are able to connect to namespace '\\.\ROOT\CIMV2'. Repeat this a
few times to increase the probablility that we are testing connection at
peak times. And remember to use the very same credentials that are being
used by your SCOM for monitoring.
Sometimes, restarting the WMI service helps too.

Simiar problem:

Note: I do not have cluster mgmt pack nor does the server in question have
clustering so I know this is a bogus message. So how do I get rid if it.

Apply:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/951979

Not really as I already have the 4 Mgmt Packs upgraded as suggested.
