When I enter new data on a page, it is always created in a new data
container.
These containers are all independent of one another, so they can
overlap.

I want to be able to insert new data onto a page and have OneNote
automatically move down all the data below it (even if that data is in
multiple containers).

Also, is there a way to get OneNote to put everything on the page into
a single container, so i don't have to deal with these problems?

Thanks,
Jonathan

Only if you type outside an existing container.
If you stay inside a container with editing, no new container is
created.

But its easy enough to (a) move the containers to cure overlapping
and/or "merge" containers.[1]

This feature does not exist.

Yes, it's just up to you to use many containers as you like.
If you prefer to have just one, just enter the data on the existing
container.

This said: I for one mostly more than just one container.
Makes some things easier.

[1] Mark the the lower container (left mouse-clock), hold the Shift-key
pressed and drag the container in the upward direction with the mouse

Thanks for the feedback!
By the way, how do you merge containers?

Thanks,
Jonathan
