So you're saying that the left mouse button isn't working properly in
OneNote? The right-button is acting like a left button?

Sorry, just trying to clarify.

thanks, for the reply Ben,
let me try and explain what happens, when I left click, it doesnt do
anything, the only "work around" that i have been able to use so far is
rightclciking and getting the rightclick menu up forces the pages to load. I
am wondering if this is a Vista thing because my other machine is XP and it
works fine. I have tried uninstalling ON and reinstalling it, but it didnt
change anything.

Hmmm...that's pretty odd. I've never seen that before. If you create a new
notebook in ON on the Vista machine does that one work normally?

I'm running OneNote 2007 on Vista Ultimate 64 and have no problems with the
mouse action.

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem and its driving me nuts. I suppose you
either stopped using onenote or have solved the problem.
I also switced from XP to Vista on a new portable.

Could you post the solution here?

Thanks,

I'm also working on a Dell XT tablet. Is "eeddy" also working on a tablet or
more specific a Dell XT?

I also have a selection problem with FireFox 2.x : I have to click twice on
a link to open it; not double click: I can wait for 30 seconds between the
clicks as long as I click twice consecutively. Internet Explorer does not
have the problem.

Is there a difference between the selection event handling of OneNote and
Firefox as opposed to other programs? (Internet explorer does not seem to
have this problem on my machine).
Does anybody else also has selection problems booth with onenote and FF?

Maybe this is a tablet (or Dell problem)?

One of our tech guys fopund the problem:
It has to do with the ATI driver.
If you uninstall the Dell ATI driver and reinstall the standard ATI driver
that comes with Vista (we use version 7.14.10.830), the problem disappears.

It is a test computer and now another user is testing it, so it might be
that other problems pop up, but up till now everything seems to work as it
should.

Hope this helps!

I have the same problem on a XT. To be more precise; The left click will
work once, then it will work with right click.
In addition, when working in the "all notebook page" like deleting an
item, the computer will freeze and will need a restart..

Thanks to those that have reported this issue. We are actively investigating
to try and find the bug and any possible workarounds. I will post the
workaround if we find one.

One question: is everyone using the Dell XT? Is anyone experiencing this on
any other device?

Thanks,
Alex <MS>

I contacted Dell about the problem. After they blamed Microsoft I had them
reading this thread. They made me remove the ATI driver , reboot. Problem not
fixed , back to blame Microsoft.
Worse than the right click is the computer frezing in "all pages" delete a
tab.

I'm sorry be we were a bit too fast in posting "a solution" on this
forum. After reinstalling with a new ATI driver the problem was gone
but only temporarily. It returned seemingly after MS Office did some
automatic updates. When we restore to a point before the updates, it
disappears again. One of our techies is trying to zoom in on the
culprit. Sorry to post only half an answer but I think every bit of
info might help.
So it seems Dell's not to blame?

Just to add my own comments into this thread. I have exactly the same
problem on my new Dell XT tablet. Normal left-click on any of the tabs
won't work, or works infrequently, this is with a mouse, pen or
finger! I've also noticed the same sort of problem with Outlook,
clicking on email folders. This is a real shame, as it's spoiling what
is for me a great laptop.

I heard there were some new drivers on ATI's site, anyone tried to
install these and test?

I, too, am experiencing this on a Latitude XT tablet with Windows Vista
Business. It was not a problem in XP. I'm looking forward to followup and
resolution!

I just checked this on another Lat XT with Windows XP Tablet Edition, and
OneNote 2007, and confirmed it is NOT a problem in OneNote or in Firefox in
XP. So it seems to be a problem in Vista.
Answers? ATI? Dell? MS? Anyone? Anyone?

Well heck, it certainly seems like we've got a problem. The Dell
Latitude Tablet PC has a problem clicking on the page tabs in OneNote
and won't change pages. For me this is almost a deal-breaker, the Dell
Tablet is a great machine, but if I can't use OneNote it's all but
useless to me. I'm an IT trainer and consultant, offering courses in
OneNote, and had originally bought the Dell as my main training and
demo machine, seems that'll have to change.

Does anyone at Microsoft or Dell have any idea if this will be fixed,
ever ?

As a tech support worker at my company, I am having the same problem. All of
our One Note 2007 users with Vista-installed XT tablets are having this
issue, currently two users so far. Waiting patiently for a fix.

Hi all,

I have an update on this issue. It appears that the NTrig applet
installed on some of the Dell XT tablets is incorrectly setting some
values in the registry. The result is that whenever you click on a
control that is both clickable and draggable (such as the page tabs in
OneNote) it will always be treated as a drag.

Here are the steps you can take to fix this.
!!!WARNING!!!
These steps us the Windows registry editor. Use caution when using the
registry editor - a mistake could cause serious errors on your computer.
If you do not feel comfortable with the registry editor, please ask
someone for help.
!!!WARNING!!!
1. Click Start, Run, type regedit, and click ok (acknowledge the Vista
UAC prompt if it comes up).
2. In the registry editor, navigate to
"Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop"
3. Locate the DragHeight and DragWidth values in the right hand pane
4. Select the DragHeight value, click the Edit menu, and select Modify
5. In the Value Data field, type 4 and click ok. IMPORTANT! You need to
do this step even if the registry editor already shows the value as 4!
6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 with the DragWidth field.
7. You may need to restart OneNote or reboot your computer.

Please let me know if these steps work/don't work.

I thought I was going mad until I found this chain. Has a solution been
found to this problem? I've got a new Dell Latitude XT and am having the
same issue with OneNote (and Firefox as someone earlier mentioned). Tried
the reg hack posted but that didn't do anything for me.
