The reason I say Tablets are personal choices is we're closer too them than
a laptop. We hold them more like a good book. 8-)

just some tips on choosing a tablet:
First of all some decisions have to be made:
Intended use:
- note taking
- development
- general use
- etc.
Display size:
10", 12,1" or 14"
Form factor:
- convertible (notebook that can be converted into a tablet pc)
- slate (tablet withouth a keyboard, but using a USB keyboard is possible)
- hybrid (slate with a detachable keyboard)
Outside use: yes/nice to have/no
This will dramatically reduce the number of tablets that meet your
basic requirements. Afterwards compare features and prices of the
tablets that you shortlisted.
This will help you choosing the best tablet for your needs.
Example:
Intended use: development + note-taking in meetings
> display size: at least 12,1", better 14"
> form factor: convertible (writing code is much easier with a keyboard)
> ouside use: no
Possible tablets, for example:
- Toshiba M200 (12,1", 1400x1024)
- Fujitsu-Siemens Txxx (12,1", 1024x768)
- Acer C30x series (14", 1024x768)
- Gateway (14", 1024x768)
If you'd rather go for a 14" machine, there are only
two TPCs left on your list...
Just a recommendation.. :-)

Great post and decision tree. One correction - the Toshiba M200 has a screen resolution of 1400 x 1050, not 1024. It's an awesome Tablet!

Thank you for the correction.

Indeed, it is. Although I have only Acer
tablets. Maybe I'll have a Toshiba,
too, one day. :-)
