I have finally gotten my Tags organized in a meaningful way and am applying
them effectively. When I go to the Tags Summary I notice that Onenote is
sorting my tags in alphabetical order. When I create a to do list with check
boxes I put the tasks that are outstanding in the order that they need to be
done. When I check the Tags Summary the alpabetized sort takes all my tags
that are in the right order and destroys the organization. What happens is
the Tag Summary and Create Summary Page is undoing all my work and renders
the Summary useless (at least it does for me). Can I force the Tags Summary
to display the list in the order it finds the tags and not try to be helpful?

I wrote about this (from a test viewpoint) at

I know this won't do exactly what you want, but showing only unchecked items
may help.

John,

Is there a way to remove the auto-formatting via registry key or change the
query language that is tied to the "refresh results" button? This looks like
it is just adding a alpahbetical sort to a Database Query or a default
setting that I need to turn off. Database queries don't automatically sort
things unless you ask it to.

I mean think of excel if you sorted things by the appropriate column and
then just when you get it perfect, excel would come over the top and
rearrange it. I can't believe that this is not something adjustable. It
would be perfect if it did not sort it after I already sorted it. The irony
is I just need a simple status summary to send to my boss and I have been
buring up hours of time looking for something that seems so obvious to me.

There has got to be a way that I can prioritize the list using the tags and
not an arbitrary alphabetized list. I mean since when does a TO DO list make
more sense in alphabetical order? I have never heard of such a thing.

Just something simple like Go to the grocery store and then Call Dentist
would be re-arragned as Call Dentist and then Go to grocery store after I
search for my tags on the summary page.

Thank you,

James Knight

Basically I add the date & time by using CTRL + SHIFT + F before adding any tags. For example "12/17/2013 8:55 AM Browser Validations." This will sort my tags by date added. However you could modify this by just adding the due date before each entry, then the Tags Summary will sort by due date, putting the oldest at the top of the list.
