Hi everyone. I get this sync error after adding a section to a onenote
notebook.

"You may not have sufficient permissions or hard disk space. (Error
code: 0xE0000644)"

The user has contribute permission and the disk space is more than
enough. The notebook is saved in SharePoint MySite. I tried assigning
full control but it did not resolve the issue. Other users sharing the
notebook also get the same error. What's strange is that adding a
section in a section group in the same notebook does not have any
problem in syncing. Is this some notebook corruption issue?

Mary
Thanks.

Does this happen only with one notebook in particular? Did you try to do the
same with another notebook and see what happens? You can then determine if it
is ON or Sharepoint related.

It happens only on one particular notebook. Is there a limit on the
number of notebooks a user can share on his MySite? I am thinking it
is ON issue as we can add sections in other notebooks. Will it help if
I recreate all the sections and pages?
Thanks for the reply.

Mary,
I don't know of a limit on the number of notebooks.
You might also want to check to see what happens when you download the
notebook and open it locally.
I would try to recreate it from a backup, confirm that it works OK locally,
then upload it and recheck.
Please let us know if this helped

I tried to put a copy in another location in SharePoint and I was able
to sync after adding a section. There must be something happening with
that user's MySite. Thanks for giving me the idea.

AFAICS the problem lies in SharePoint.
ON and SharePoint do not harmonize as would be needed.

Pls read David Rasmussen's articles
"OneNote Shared Notebooks - Options and Troubleshooting - Part 2:
Notebooks On SharePoint"
http://blogs.msdn.com/david_rasmussen/archive/2008/01/11/onenote-shared-notebooks-options-and-troubleshooting-part-2-notebooks-on-sharepoint.aspx
and
Syncing OneNote to Sharepoint - Access Denied and Automatically Detect
Settings
http://blogs.msdn.com/david_rasmussen/archive/2007/11/27/syncing-onenote-to-sharepoint-access-denied-and-automatically-detect-settings.aspx

In the light of the latter article your situation seems rather familiar.
Problems like yours appear on this NG every now and then.
IMHO if XP is involved one might better exclude the ON notebook files
from SharePoint.

Rainald
P.S. There is hope, however. For ON2010 a lot of efforts have been put
into "cloud computing"/sharing issues. And in a couple of months sharing
will be dramatically better ;-)

Thank you Rainald. That was very informative. The forum did lead me to
the right direction on finding the fix. I went to the user MySite and
granted the permission on the "Shared Documents" document library. For
some reasons, the permission set on the subfolder was not enough. She
has "contribute" permission now on the document library and the ON
notebook. Good thing she specifically set the permission on each
subfolder on her document library so I don't have to worry about the
access on the other folders.
This is just one of those SharePoint and Onenote sharing issue. I
expect more to come ;-)
