I have been liking the new training power point templates from MS for Office
2007 and I have run into a problem when I download them to my pc so I can add
my company info. The entire template downloads with out a problem but when it
comes to viewing the animations it wont play them. I have checked the
properties on those files and it says that it is supposed to play of some
file on my C:/ drive that does not even exist when I look for it. There is
not no link either to map it to a microsoft site online for online viewing.
Any ideas? All my Active X controls are enabled.

Which template is it? Most of the ones I opened have no animation, none had
Flash.

Ok I just went back and double checked the properties of where these
animations are supposed to be and it says on the tab

Name:Shockwave Flash1
Embed Movie:True
Movie:c:\xlUpSpeed1_5_ZA10107908.swf

I checked the code and it says

Private Sub ShockwaveFlash1_OnReadyStateChange(ByVal newState As Long)

End Sub

how is this not downloading with the powerpoint? How is it not flash? If its
not flash what is it?

I did a quick check and didn't see any Flash but obviously it does have it.
No clue why you aren't getting everything. Did you try it on a different
computer?

JoAnn, There is Flash on the page, the advertisement on the right uses Flash. No
PowerPoint presentation is going to have Flash. It is an Adobe program.

That makes sense. I downloaded the template and I didn't see any flash. I
assumed that's what she meant.

Sometimes you get leftover VBA modules in presentations. I think that's
what's happened here, because there aren't really any Flash (SWF) objects in
this presentation.

If I hit the "view object" option in the VBA window, it takes me to the
slides where PPT apparently thinks there is an ActiveX control.

Ah, and indeed there is a control, but it looks like an image. Ah, now I see
where it says "animation: right-click and click Play."

You may already know this, but here's how you can check (slide 31, for
example) to see what object is the control. Go to the Home tab, choose
Select | Selection Pane. Top thing on that list is the Flash object. Click
the eye icon to hide it, and that image disappears. So you know that's the
Flash animation.

They do seem to work if I run the presentation and right-click and choose
Play. Are you running in presentation view, or are you trying to get these
to run in normal editing view? You might open IE and go to adobe.com and
click "get Flash Player." This will install the latest Flash Player, and
that might make a difference for PPT as well.

A great product I use is Ppt 2 Flash SDK
SDK is a high performance solution providing web sites and online applications with automatic PowerPoint to Flash conversion facilities.
You can find it at http://www.ppt2flashsdk.com/
