I am unable to use one of my photos for my theme in Gmail. I have tried uploading it to google photos, and also putting it into its own album. Nothing seems to work, as before I would send my image to google hangouts and it would appear there. Now that hangouts are gone, that option is no longer viable. The only fix is to set it as the profile image, but that makes it square, making even high res photos too zoomed in to be any good. Maybe I should make a 16K image?? XD

With themes, users can customize the look and feel of their Gmail accounts by choosing their own colors and background schemes. Changing themes does not affect the content or functionality of Gmail, nor does it alter any settings applied by the administrator, such as a customized logo.

To select a theme, all users can sign in to their Gmail accounts, go to SettingsThemes and choose from the selection of Gmail themes or create their own. Learn more about using Gmail themes.

To enable dark mode for Gmail, click the gear icon in the top right and choose Themes. Scroll down to the section below the photo themes and select either the Dark or Terminal theme.

Either theme provides a black background with white text, but the Terminal theme uses a slightly darker shade of black. Neither theme, however, maintains its black background when you open an email or click Compose to start a new message. In both cases, you are greeted by the standard formatting with a bright, white background, which can be jarring when merrily perusing your inbox in dark mode.

For most people, Gmail has an all-too-familiar look. But the default theme with its clean (but bland) pure white background and red accents isn't your only option. Google offers a wide array of preset themes for Gmail on the desktop. You can choose from high contrast mode, solid colors that include a night theme, and a massive collection of eye-catching images (via Google Support).

But customization and personalization on Gmail go beyond preloaded themes. You can design a custom Gmail theme and truly make it your own. It only takes a few simple steps to turn a photo of your choice into the background. You can also change the text background color, tweak the blur levels, and even add a vignette. Plus, the accents automatically shift to complement the new theme.

Using a Gmail theme is a great way to personalize your email experience and make it more enjoyable. With a wide variety of themes to choose from, you can easily find one that matches your style and personality. In addition to adding a touch of creativity to your inbox, a Gmail theme can also help you stay organized and make it easier to find the emails you're looking for. Whether you want to use a colorful, playful theme to brighten up your day or a more professional, minimalist design to keep your inbox looking sleek and organized, using a Gmail theme is a simple and effective way to make your email experience more personalized and enjoyable.

I've already tried reverting to the old design, changing the theme and then changing it back to planets, and then switching back to the new design. It kept what I had previously saved last time in the new design.

Finally, consider applying a calming theme that'll complement your new inbox aesthetic. Click the gear icon in Gmail's upper-right corner and select (yep, you guessed it) "Themes." I'd suggest scrolling down til you see the "More Images" thumbnail and clicking on that; doing so will reveal a whole host of lovely photos from which you can choose, including the one you see in my own inbox screenshots.

By default, Gmail will usually style the colors of your various inbox elements to match the image you select (much like what we see on Android, in recent releases). If you aren't thrilled with the way things look, you can toggle between a light and dark text background via the third icon on the main theme-picking box (a gray square with a white "A" inside of it).

Yes this is true. My work address got through to mailchimp but my personal (gmail) did not. My work address provider is also gmail. After I tried a few more things to make this work, my work mail also stopped getting to mailchimp and I got the same error.

your sample email address did not get to mailchimp. Actually none of them got through. I tried with samplesample gmail.com, and I got a Thank you message, but it only got to convert plus list. The mailchimp list is still empty.

Hi, I am trying to add my professional email address (PII Removed by Staff) (created within Google Workspace) to my personal Gmail account (PII Removed by Staff) in order to receive and send my professional emails from my personal gmail account. There is a problem on the path, can you help me (see picture) ? I checked my password, it is correct, maybe the POP server ? I am french !

Google started rolling out dark theme onto the Android and iOS based apps for Gmail in September last year. Now, the company has finally completed the roll out of dark theme onto its iOS and iPadOS based apps.

What makes this feature special is the fact that unlike a lot of apps, dark mode in Gmail is not entirely dependent on the theme that you have enabled on your iPhone or your iPad. This means that you can use dark theme in Gmail even as you are using light mode on your Apple device.

It generally leaves areas that already have dark backgrounds alone, resulting in a fully Dark Mode design. Fortunately, most email clients that use this method also support Dark Mode targeting, so you can override the client-default dark theme.

So if you already designed your emails to have a dark theme, this scheme will ironically force them to become light. Unfortunately, this is currently the tactic used by some of the more popular email clients, such as Gmail app (iOS), Outlook 2021 (Windows), Office 365 (Windows), and Windows Mail.
