Getting the "sku112.cab not found" message, which has apparently been a
problem for quite some time hampering efforts to install Office 2003. I've
learned a lot about it from posted messages but don't find any source to
download it since it's supposed to come on an installation disk, which was
not supplied with my new HP. Without having it on a CD-ROM and without being
able to download it, I have to get it from another machine running identical
software and that's risky.

Yeah, go ahead and have Microsoft post it so all the pirate copies can be
updated... I think not.

So in other words Milly we are just screwed. I have no CD and no way to fix
this issue like many others it seems. Thanks for nothing. I am buying a mac
and microsoft and Bill can kiss my A**

If you have no CD and have a valid Retail Product CD then:

You may find the following Microsoft Knowledge Base Article applies:

How to Replace Lost, Broken, or Missing Microsoft Software or Hardware.
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;[ln];326246

Seems your kissing may be a bit delayed if you use this option, which is freely available, unlike a Mac.

I would expect a more professional response from an MVP. I truly find your
attitude offensive.

When people need help they do not need sarcasm!

It was not a request for assistance, it was a suggestion for Microsoft to
post this file. And I repeat, it will not happen.

And I find your response both puzzling and inappropriate.

I agree with SWVABOY , your initial response was highly rude, as Bob stated
he had valid products you should of responded with the link to replace lost
or broken software in the first place and left it at that.

Your sarcasm was highly unprofessional the "we don't care attitude" that MS
has for its users is also embodied by its MVPs as well.

Wow, pulled that one out of your... um, history.

Couldn't find a post to respond to with some actual help?

So now it has been almost two years since I originally posted about this
problem. I am happy to report that I was not forestalled by Milly or her
evil minions and I received assistance from a download site that
supplied me, without charge, the needed sku112.cab. It installed without
issue and has since provided me excellent service on my perfectly
legitimate copy of MOS2003.
Since it happened so long ago, I can't remember just now where the
assistance came from, but a little googling found it in several places
and all I did was pick one and do the deed.
If anyone out there on the world wide interweb needs it, I'll be happy
to advise and assist within legitimate bounds.

I need it Bob! Same thing just happened to me..my legal CDs of Office 2003
aren't working either.

BTW, I worked for MSFT for 5 years back in the 80s/90s...Milly is not a real
employee. She's a wanna be. We were taught a little more humility than she
exemplified. I was there for the Windows 3.0 launch. One day I cam in and
all of our Macs were gone and replaced with PC's. LOL

I never said I was a Microsoft employee nor have I ever tried to represent
myself as one.

And I don't want to be a Microsoft employee. I am happy in my chosen
career.

Stop making assumptions based on wild hairs plucked out of thin air.

I had the same problem and none of the suggested solutions worked for
me.. I finally went to programs, Microsoft Office, Office tools then ran
the Office diagnostic.
The diagnostic found and issue and repaired the problem. (I had 2
conflicting Office Outlook programs installed.) Anyway this proved to be
a simple solution to the issue.

Bob - I hope you still look at this forum! I've had my laptop for two
years and just came up with the "you need SKU112.cab" message. If you
can, please let me know how I can download it. I no longer have either
the CD or the product number for my Microsoft Office. Thanks

Arrggh, help me! Not very computer literate, but can follow
instructions.

I was running outlook 2003 on my work PC and have recently purchased
outlook 2007. Just tried installing it and had the error about
SKU112.cab not found. Ended up having to cancel the upgrade so it said
it was rolling back changes, however, now I can't open my outlook 2003!!
All my emails are in there, all work emails, what do I do???

Where do I find this missing file, how do I install it and will this
allow the upgrade to continue normally and therefore have all my old
email accounts and emails still there when I open outlook 2007?

Please help asap :)
