The War Journal was originally several diary entries in the original manual of POSTAL that differed from those found in game. The reasoning for this is currently unknown but as of Redux, they have been integrated into the intentionally vague story of POSTAL, appearing on the loading screens should the player choose Hard or Nightmare mode.

The reason for going on a killing spree in the first place. According to the manual, the town of Paradise has come under the effect of a madness-inducing plague and the Postal Dude is the only person able to put a stop to it. Of course, given his diary entries and sadistic enjoyment of causing death and destruction, he's probably just flown over the cuckoo's nest. The diary entries in between levels, e.g. "10/17/97 The Earth is hungry. It's heart throbs and demands cleansing. The Earth is also thirsty..."note His diary on Hard mode and above in Redux, and the manual of the original game mention that his neighbors have been infected by a sort of hate plague: Moving to "Paradise" was a tragic mistake. People here are...sick. I hear gunshots, screams after dark. Now the phone calls, sayin' I'm being thrown outta this house. MY house. Wearing Kevlar vest and carrying a sidearm at all times now... The screams of the dying will definitely qualify. The unsettling menu screens, very unsettling loading screens, and the total horror of the credits screen (pictured above), in which also features a deceased BABY in it! (Albeit this was edited out in Redux) The amount of Body Horror depicted in all of these is disturbing as all hell. And in case you thought it wasn't disturbing enough, Redux has redrawn the menu and loading screens for extra detail, and given them animation. Now feast your eyes on the loading screens remade with AI here Also, due to Early-Installment Weirdness, the violence isn't Played for Laughs nearly as much as Postal 2 and the subsequent sequels: the only thing remotely funny is Rick Hunter's signature baritone quipping Bond One Liners - and even then, it's implied that he isn't the voice for The Postal Dude himself, but a Literal Split Personality and/or Demonic Possessor forcing The Postal Dude on a killing spree For the Evulz. The ending for the original game counts as this, big time. The final level starts off at an elementary school, where you're seemingly given no choice but to gun down the laughing and playing children - except they don't die, or even react, to being shot at, running through fire, or dodging rocket launcher rounds. Then the Postal Dude, seemingly having what little remains of his sanity snap like a twig, passes out, while the camera blurs out to blackness. Then he wakes up locked in a Bedlam House, while a distorted voice talks about how the stress of modern day life causes people like the character to "Go Postal", all while saying your atrocities would never be understood by anybody else, even if you deluded yourself into being a One Man Army fighting against all odds. The voice then says that, while they will never understand what set you off, "rest assured, we WILL have plenty of time to study [you]." The ending for the Redux edition isn't much better. Simply put, The Dude comes across a funeral procession, and this simple event causes him to have his breakdown due to one of two potential reasons: One, he likely thought the funeral was for him, and that he was Dead All Along. Two, if there are people capable of mourning the dead in the middle of a hate plague he was allegedly the only one left uninfected in, that means that there probably was none to begin with or he did TOO good a job at stopping it, and he likely killed hundreds and hundreds of innocent people for no reason other than his own paranoia. Also, take note that the only hostile on the map is no one but the Postal Dude himself. Once the coffin hits the bottom of the grave, the hostile count ticks down to nil. The Hard Mode ending only opens up more theories, considering that we now see a man and a woman standing over the casket as it is lowered down into the grave. Could it be the Postal Dude's parents watching his own son's funeral procession and that the whole game was nothing but a Dying Dream? Some people have noted that the two persons standing over the grave along with the priest look a lot like the Postal Dude and his wife from Paradise Lost. This could very well mean that we've been playing as T. Dude, Sr. the whole game and that he just watched his own son watch his funeral. The soundtrack qualifies as insanity in music form. Here's an example. Redux's soundtrack manages to be even more horrifying. If you're brave enough to face your fears, wait until you see The City loading screen (pictured above), which features a flaming skeleton-like figure which will likely keep you awake the whole night! God have mercy! While in Redux, the song uses an ear-ringing noise instead of a looped human scream. To make things even worse, the "Texbeast" loading screen from the said level appears as a cop carrying a Rocket Launcher and a handgun in Postal 1's Trading Cards, bearing a Psychotic Smirk, putting the actual loading screen to shame. The things the Postal Dude sees in his mind may be terrifying, but they aren't much better in the real world. Some of the Dude's lines are pretty creepy, but with a touch of Black Comedy. He really changed a lot from Postal 1 to Postal 2. However, in Redux, the Postal Dude sounds like an actual mass murderer instead of a comedic lunatic. Some of the game's areas have eerie ambient sound effects playing once you're near them that really pump up a little more of that psychotic feel of the game. The same sound effects can be heard in Postal 2, playing in certain areas for no reason at all other than weird out the player. As Civvie 11 points out, somehow the screams in the Japanese exclusive expansion pack Super Postal are more terrifying than the screams in the base, English game."Because, when you hear it in English, it's cheesy and campy. But not understanding it makes it worse."

The first Sony PlayStation was introduced in 1994. Its graphical capabilities blew predecessors like the Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo out of the water, but it had one big disadvantage. It replaced the game cartridges of the previous generation with CD-ROMs. When you booted up a PlayStation game, you had to wait for the console to load game data from the disc into its own memory. And that. Took. For. Ever. Watching a loading screen was boring, especially when you were used to the instant gratification of cartridge games.

As for the auxiliary game patent, it simply describes the idea of loading a separate game while the player waits for the main game. Namco gave no information of value in return for its monopoly on auxiliary games.

I have been listening a lot of postal ost (specifically Redux) and for the most part i had in mind that Pico school and Postal 2,3 and 4 pretty much have the same idea of a protagonist (Granted in a very generic scope of choice in terms of letting them live or die and in some fangames like Newgrounds museum 2 Pico gets even a trenchcoat) At the same time Casandra fits a lot postal one protagonist (If you squint your eyes on the personality that is) so i though if somebody is going to mod redux on having new stages, this might fit, a little bit too much.

I have always been a HUGE fan of the POSTAL series, I played the original when I was 9 (my parents didn't regulate what I played) and was estatic when I got POSTAL 2 for my 13th birthday. I never played POSTAL 3 (thank god) and pretty much forgot about the series until my friend sent me a meme with the Postal Dude in it. Memories flooded my head and I really wanted to play the 2nd game again to relive the past. Being a poor college student, I couldn't afford the $10 steam version, so I went to my local games reseller.Digging through one of the the bargain bins, I found a CD case with "POSTAL 2+ST..." the rest was faded. Thinking this meant it was POSTAL 2 and the Share the Pain multiplayer mode, I suppresed a poggers and went to the cash register. The cashier was odd to say the least. He looked scared when he saw the disk. I asked him if he was okay and he seemed to snap out of some sort of trance and handed me the disk. "It's not an actual copy. You can have it for free" Not really caring if it was legit or not I went home. The first thing I did when I went home was pop the disk into my computer. The game started up as normal with the "Running with scissors believes violence belongs in video games not the real world" text. Then the actual game opened. I noticed something was off in the logo. It read "Postal 2 STD" rather than just "POSTAL 2". Thinking this was some bootleg super edition with Mods I clicked Play. Then the game started loading, No difficulty screen or anything. It threw me right into the game without the opening cutscene and I then noticed the sky. It was pitch black with red clouds. BLOOD red clouds. They looked like they were almost from a real picture. I thought it was just part of the mod and opened my inventory to get the map. Except the inventory was empty. I pressed around on the number keys and took out the matchbox. Oddly enough the hands didn't look like Postal Dudes. They looked more like vinces hands (Postal Dudes boss). I turned around and noticed the normal pathway was blocked off. My only option was to break into Postal Dudes neighbors house. I walked over and pressed Q. The door was kicked in and I froze. The floor was covered with bodies that looked almost real. I don't know how but they looked better than any graphics I had ever seen. I almost vomited at the sight. Then my character started backing away from the door, only for the screen to be forcefully turned around revealing a bloody eyed Postal Dude. I heard a distorted version of his laugh, and then Vince screamed and the screen went black. I sat there thinking "What the fuck is going on, what kind of sick fuck made this" when a new loading screen appeared. Rather than one of the days of the week, this one read "DAY OF BLOODSHED" when the game loaded in I noticed the character I was playing as had a gun. And judgeing from the height it was Gary Coleman. I noticed the gun was shakey in his hands, almost as if he was scared. I observed my surronding and noticed I was at the RWS HQ. The streets were filled with corpses of all types of NPCs, Animals, and even some I could hardly recognize. I turned around to look at the building. I almost lost my lunch. Hanging there, from his intestines was Vince. His eyes were gone and he was crying blood. The building itself was boarded up and covered with blood. I turned around and started walking forward. I noticed that Gary walked very slowly, almost as if he was being careful so that he wasn't heard or spotted. Out of nowhere Postal Dude appeared in front of me. I fired a shot at him and heard him laugh and dissapear. Now Gary was moving a lot faster, and music was playing. I think it was something from Postal 1 but i'm not sure. every once and a while I would hear the laugh from behind me and it was getting closer. Eventually he was right in front of me and Gary fired off all of his shots, without my control. The game was now just a black screen with the sound of Gary crying, and then visuals returned. The game looked normal, except for a lack of pedestrians, then in one second it returned to the hellscape it was before, and Postal Dude appeared with a sythe and swong it. There was a scream, and then it went black. "Who the fuck made this?" I thought. Nothing would prepare me for what came next.
