I recently uninstalled Office Pro 2003 because of continuous problems
accessing Excel. I used the windows installation cleanup utility to do the
uninstall. Since I don't have the OEM copy that came with my Dell Dimension
5250, I had an IT buddy let me borry his copy. After uninstalling Office,
upon reinstalling the process stopped after the validating install bar got
about half way and then displayed files to remove and I received a fail setup
message. I then used OFFCLN in the Office 11 file folder to remove additional
files and attempted to reinstall again. Same results but the setup went much
further than the previous one but still failed. I then booted into the safe
mode, tried reinstalling and got the following window installer error "the
system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation" although
I am the administrator. I then created a new administrator and repeated...
same results. At this point I am totally frustrated since most of my business
files and customer accounts are inaccessible. If anyone can help, you would
be a god to me. I have pasted the setup log files from the Office temp folder
if this can be of help. Thanks.

I have the same problem but I have the original install disc. No problem with
the key code. But now it wants the W2561405.CAB file. It say to put in the
original disc but when I do it still is looking for that file.
Compaq 8000Z. Win XP Home 64 bit. Ram, maxed. 4gb?
What originally happened was it sat on the startup screen and just stared at
me
funny. I thought the C: died. I put in a brand new Seagate drive and used the
recovery disc. I put in the old Western Digital secondary drive and it stared
at
me again. (That was creepy!) I put in the old Seagate C: drive and it booted
so
it was the 2nd WD drive that crashed. Now it wants that file even though I
have
the original disc.
HAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLP!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please respond as my wife won't let me buy another computer. Lost my job (the
company consolidated and moved to Louisiana) and I have some serious medical
problems so money is tight. The republicans are talking about eliminating all
social programs including disability, social security, unemployment insurance
so
they can keep getting their bribes fron the super-rich and rich corporations
while we are stuck with the bill. I need all the help I can get.
