I have a problem I really need help for, there is a
Windows XP Professional computer with Office 2002 on it
in a public place. The supervisor uses this computer to
receive email and she would like to have some control
over who opens Outlook. Other personnel in the room have
to use other programs on the computer, but NOT Outlook.
Is there a way to password protect just Outlook?

Thanks,

Scott

You can password-protect the supervisor's personal folders file, thereby
accomplishing the desired aim of security. In the Folder list, right click
the top level Personal Folders and choose Properties. In the General tab,
click Advanced, which is where you'll find the password settings.

Herb,

First of all, thanks for the quick response. I have a
question in response to your suggestion, will this work
on Exchange 2000? All our email is stored on the
Exchange Server.

Thanks,

Scott

Not Herb,
You can only password protect the pst, for Exchange Mailbox change the logon
network security to None, this will prompt for user name password and domain
on launching Outlook. For Outlook 2002 this is located Tools > Email
Accounts > Next > highlight Exchange > Change > More Settings > Advanced >
logon network security field.
