I am accessing my desktop cp from my laptop using dirct cable
connection. I can access shared files but cannot transfer them to the hard
drive on the laptop which was my main reason for doing so in the first
place.Does direct cable connection have the ability to do this or am I doing
something wrong. What I need to do is transfer three folders with important info
to my laptop so that I can reformat the hard drive on my desktop. Any good
ideas out there?? Thanks,Earl

I haven't used DCC in a while, so my memory is off, but a couple of
thoughts:
1. How did you configure the connection? Are guest and host properly
assigned?
2. Did you install File and Print Sharing?
3. Did you designate the properties of the individual folders as shared?

Have you shared the drives on both machines??

You cannot transfer files without it
