I'm trying to determine the difference in functionality
between Office XP "Professional" and Office XP "for
students and teachers."

Has anyone used both and can speak to their differences?

Professional is roughly $85 more and I want to know if I'm
gonna get $85 worth out of it.

You can look here for what each version contains:

The teacher and student editions are sold specificatlly
for "educational" purposes. otherwise they are identical.
the liscence agreement stipulates that the educational
version is not allowed to be used for commercial purposed
although i hae no idea how microsoft can track that. i
hope that this helps.
