Hello Doug.

APA (American Psychological Association) and MLA (Modern Language
Association) are the two collegiate forms of editorial (writing)
style/format. Both are somewhat different citing, reference,
bibliography, etc., styles you must apply when writing technical and/or
research papers. Various Sciences, Professors, and/or instructors will
generally prefer one editorial style over the other. MS Word will not
be much help with this respect.

I recommend purchasing the APA Style Handbook, or checking a copy out at
your local library, as I found my copy an asset over the years :o)
