Is it frozen or just taking a long time to sort
the folder with that many graphics in it?
You may want to try setting up a folder with only
a few graphics as a test and changing the clipart
setting in Word for Tools=>Options=>File locations
or adding the graphics to the Office XP Clip Organizer
to see if you get the same results.
The default in Word 2002, which can only be changed
with a macro, is thumbnail view, which means Word is
waiting for 54,000 thumbnails to be built in this case
if I understand it correctly.

The programs freeze. I've given them over 5 minutes to try
to do their stuff - no luck (task manager lists them
as "not responding"). I have even tried changing the view
to "list" instead of "thumbnail" before trying to open the
folder. I tried your suggestions about the clipart. With a
handfull of files it works ok, with the whole folder
everything goes into the twilight zone. What could be the
difference between Office 2000 & XP in this regard? Any
other thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Nick
