Hi all:

Having difficulty saving documents stored on an AppleShare 6.3.3 server. The
target folder has write privs enabled, and all apps other than Word 2001
(inc. Word 98) can save files there with no problem. Word 2001 can save a
file there initially, but if you try to save subsequent changes to the same
file you get a "Word cannot save this file, the disk may be full or
write-protected" message. Open any Word file there and try to save it, same
problem.

Now, this only happens if the top-level folder (root folder of the server
volume) is write-locked. Unlock it, Word works fine. So Word may be trying
to save a temporary file or something to the top level of the volume. We
can't leave the root level unlocked for security reasons.

Support response to this has been tepid ("Saving to server volumes is
unsupported." whaaaat?) so I'm looking for additional help.

thanks,
