Happy new year. One of the computers at my work is experiencing a lag when
the user goes to open a Microsoft document from the company intranet. The
intranet itself is operating at its normal speed and the user can go from
page to page easily but there is a 6 – 10 second delay, which was not evident
last week, when he opens a file in read only or edit mode in both Word and
Excel.
Accessing a file from the C: drive or from a mapped network drive is done at
normal speed with the documents opening up within a second. No one else is
experiencing any problems.
The computer is running Windows 7 and Microsoft Office 2007 - all recently
updated and running correctly.
Thanks,
Adam

I don't know if this will help your situation but, on SuSE Linux with
Novell, I discovered that the problem was resolved by setting Network
security as follows:
-Administrative Tools
-Local Security Policy
-Security Options
-Network Security
-Change LAN Manager authentication level to Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2
session security if negotiated
After that change, I was able to access files on the network normally. No
more read only or locked by issues. Performance improved immediately.
