checks deleted incoming email address

outlook 2003 tries to check an old deleted email address all the time. this
address is always checked first before any of the valid email addresses and
the popup box appears requesting a password to be entered. of course the
email address is not valid with the ISP provider and then the outlook error
message tells you that the meil address is not listed with the provider. The
valid email addresses are then downloaded ok. the problem is that this
happens each time we send / receive and you have to manually click cancel
when the pop up box always appears. I have checked all parts of the program
and there is no reference to this old deleted email address anywhere. I have
also been told by the ISP that this is a microsoft problem, so can anyone
please help as this is very frustrating.
