Can someone confirm that it is not possible to use OWC on IE8, WIN 7 (x64)
I tried running a website which uses OWC for reporting purposes (both in IE
32 and IE 64) but does not seem to work.
The error I get is "The query could not be processed. The data provider
didn't supply any further error information."

If I use a WIN 7 (32 bit) with IE8, I can run the query.

owc= office web components
win7= Windows 7

If you are using OWC 9 or OWC 10 then try OWC 11 (only OWC 11 works with
Vista and so with Seven).

The following worked for me:

enable for trusted sites, after you add the sites to your trusted sites list
(have the security set to low) and change the following setting for Active X
controls and scripts

Initialize and script activex controls not marked as safe for scripting.

One of the things that I have determined when users get this error is that
they do not have the MSOLAP Provider on their machine. Try installing that
and see if it resolves the problem.

Can you provide a link to the correct MSOLAP to install. I am having the
same problem and have tried all the other suggestions listed. I have several
computers running various Operating systems including Windows XP and Vista.
They both work fine with OWC11 and IE7..however, when I introduce IE8, the
page will not load. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am using QWC 11 to display pivot tables on our company Intranet. The work
in IE8 on a 32 bit server 2003, but the Active X object will not load on IE8
on a Windows 7 64 bit computer. Anyone know a fix?

It should work, it 's just a regular ActiveX control. Few things to bare in
mind. IE 64 bit will not run OWC or any plug-ins for that matter. IE 32 will
run it however if you are developing on a 64 bit machine, you have to
specifically target the x86 platform and set your application pool to use
32bit mode.
