Does conversation history work without Outlook?

I got communicator 2007 but I don't have Outlook. Is it possible to log the
messages (use the conversation history) without installing outlook?

The error I get when I click on "View Conversation History" is:
Cannot connect to Microsoft Office Outlook to open the desired folder.
Please close any open Outlook dialog boxes and try again later. If the
problem persists, contact your system administrator.

You need to use Outlook to do this. I'm not aware of any client-side
alternative.

You could also use the Archiving but that's probably now what you want.

I use Outlook 2003 and get this error, does it have to be 2007?

do you need exchange? did some tests, and the conversations were saved in
the mailbox even though the delivery is on a personal folder. thanks.

We are not able to save communicator History.
We don't have Exchange server.
i am getting message is -- cannot connect to microsoft office outlook desired folder.Please close open outlook dialogue boxes and try agin later.If the problem presist contact your administrator.

You need Microsoft Office Outlook to save Office communicator conversation
(it's a mandatory requirement).
But you don't need Microsoft Exchange, just an e-mail account on your
machine.
