Reading Large Memo fields from ODBC?

Hi.
I've got an odd problem - I'm trying to read a goldmine database,
which is stored as a dbase file. However, memo fields larger than
2046 bytes, instead of being read, pop up as an Invalid Argument
errors. I don't know what's preventing me from reading the larger
fields, but I need to.
Does anyone know of a setting or another approach that will let me get
around this limit? Thank you.
