In a computer that I rarely use, I changed the username (Admin /
Administrator ?) and passoword. I know it is silly but I can't even
remember the new name of the admin user !!!

I can only connect as 'home' without password.

Any idea of how to sort out this without erasing all the disk ?

Thanks for any help !!!

Hi Joao,
Take a look at
http://www.petri.co.il/forgot_administrator_password.htm
Even if the focus of the article is on resetting the password most of the
procedures described will lead you to see the name of the admin user before
offering you the possibility the reset the password.
Regards,

Hernán

First of all, you are not at the right place... This is the Dutch discussion
group.
Second... I can tell you how to know your local administrators name to start
with. Login with your home account and go to "my computer" you can find this
icon on your desktop (sometimes also in your start menu). Right-click this
icon, and you'll have a popup menu. Choose "manage" and the system will open
a new window with your systems specifics. Go to "local users and groups",
choose "groups" and open the group "administrators". Probably the system
mentions somewhere that you have no rights to change anything, only to view
(if you have really no admin rights with the 'home' user). When you opened
the administrators group a new window will appear showing you the current
users with admin rights on this system. If you know how the local
administrator is named and you cannot come up with the password anymore....
Well, I use a litlle tool for this, maybe you should look for somethiong like
that too.

Just create another account with the full administrator inheritants and make
the changes!
Does not matter if there is more then one user with full administrators
rights!
