It would be recommended to wait for Dynamics 5.0 with new client. If you try
to do lot of customizations now to achieve this result and later wish to
upgrade to Dynamics 5.0 with new client, your efforts will probably be
wasted.

No, no no... pure rubbish

Firstly you would have to wait sometime until next year (currently
first quarter) and secondly

It makes no difference at all wether you wait or not... The tables are
almost the same. To simplify 4.0 versus 5.0, the biggest change is the
thin client.

But you can also continue using the fat client (the current client).

3rd issue on 5.0 is to miminize the usuage of SIFT because the SIFT
technology does only apply to the native database and are "simulated"
on SQL, and this makes no impact on how you would design your RS
Reports.

As Reporting services can only work on SQL then you do not need to
worry about

- new c/side functions
- new functionality objects like the workflow part

By loggin on to amazon or to your local bookstore you should be able to
order books about reporting services. The only prerequisitons you
should have is the knowledge of how the NAV tables look like at what
the purpose of them are.

Palle

Dear Palle, you probably didn't answer the second part of his question "How
to use Navision calls MS Reporting Service reports"... With 4.0 you will have
to create a dll to make Navision call MS reporting services reports and have
all the links modified which calls the existing report which will be too much
of the effort. If you just want to use Reporting services outside of Navision
to make cubes etc, you can do that anytime and won't be impacted by future
versions.
