Hi,
I've just downloaded a movie, when I play it in windows media player, i
got an error message saying "error downloading codec", and when I play it,
there's no sound, just video. And I tried to use DivX player, it said,"The
file contains unknown audio data ...... Audio data: Tag 8192 .... you may
need to install a new audio codec on your computer to listen to the audio"
So what's the problem here? Software problem? Or hardware (sound card)? Thx
a lot.

Adrian

I'm not familiar with the audio codec ID. You would need to ask the content
provider.

This should be formattag 0x2000, which I have heard rumoured in the past to
be a joke codec put in to certain content to make it not work right. So you
may have been deliberately made to download broken content. ?

Actually, I download a movie from Kazaa, but after I downloaded about 40M, I
use Kazaa preview extractor to preview the movie, so the file is not
complete. Is that causing the problem? will I be able to listen to the sound
after I downloaded the whole movie? Thx.

Sounds like a great question to ask the content provider. :)

In general, partial downloads of files should be avoided as they should
not/generally would not work correctly.
