Media Player v12 remembers where last paused

Having lots of computers here, most of them are XP SP2 or SP3. And when
I can get away with it, I rather use WMPv9. Although some OEM XP
installs already had WMPv10 installed and you can't go back.

Although on my Windows 7 machine, I have no choice but to run WMPv12.
And there is only one thing I like better than v9. That is I can pause
and use standby or hibernation mode and when turned on again I can start
at the last paused position. v9 and v10 can't do this. Rather it starts
at the beginning of the same track.

And my question is, what WMP version did this start working this way?
And isn't WMPv11 the highest version XP can run?
