How to discard webcam frames

Hi all.
My name's Mauro and I working wuth a webcam.
My software change the Exposure time when it need.
The webcam is setup with manual exposure.
When I change the exposure I get some frame woth the old value off exposure.
Wheh I change the exposure value maybe I need todo this
1. stop the filter
2. change the exposure
3. rerun the filter to get the frame with the new exposure value
I can stop the filter, but I don't know how to discard old frames.
The second possibility is to make a shorter queue of frames (2 at maximum may be the best). So i need to provide a buffe 2-frame deep to the capture filter.
Any idea?
