No notifications from other controls when rendering video in a panel on a .NET form....

Happy New Year !!
I have written DShow interop code in C# that enables me to display video in
a panel on a form using IGraphBuilder::RenderFile()
and IMediaControl::Run() - it works fine however I have other controls on
the form that, while the video is running, never provide
notification of external events( ie button clicks etc. ).How do I get round
this problem - so that I can provide some UI for controlling the video
display ?
