I'm trying to help my brother long distance on this problem. We've downloaded
a couple different cleaner (Clear History and CCleaner) type freewares to
clean his MSN Search search history, but nothing has worked. How on earth
does he clear that MSN Search history? He's using the MSN browser, and it's
the engine on the home page. It's getting a little maddening. I've tried
everything, including the Clear Forms in Tools/ Internet
Options/Content/Clear Forms. He says it's not working. I have IE 6.0 and I
believe he has 7.0, so the setup is a little different than mine. How can I
be sure which version of IE he is running? How does one tell?
A little help please?
Thank you.

I was doing the same things you were trying to do and it wasn't working. I
went back to msn home page and click double click on search box and the list
of searches came up and I just started deleting them one by one as they was
highlighted and it worked!! Do not try to delete them in the search box
because it's not going to delete them. Go under the box were the list comes
up and once highlighted start deleting them. I hope this helps

Thanks Pebbles, i think your method works, i had the same problem but i went
into Tools/Internet Options/General/Delete/Form Data. i have IE7. maybe you
might need to shut down IE so that changes can take effect.

I had the same problem. I tried everything possible which didn't work. Came
across this method just now and it worked like a charm. It was that simple.
Pebbles...maybe you need to work for Microsoft...they could do with people
like you on their team....thanks!!!

hey, this is for all of you guys who find it so hard to delete those stupid
searches on mns. let me give you the exact and effective way of doing it.

first you go to Tools then click on Internet options, and then choose
General, then delete cookies, delete files "offline files" and then delete or
clear history.

second step is to go Content which is also on the Internet options. Simply
click on auto Complete, then click Clear Forms. Then press OK!

note: when you click on delete cookies and files, you will also delete the
websites on your address bar and the stored names of the sub sites you opened.

Its absolutely simple. Take it from me, Im an Information Technology
student! heeheee

Honestly, this is a good way for you not to get caught watching or
downloading porn!! hahaha

Many many thanks! I have been trying periodically for the last couple of
years to figure out how to do clear the search without clearing all saved
passwords etc. This is the best! At least on Google search you have the
option of selecting Clear Search History... Would be nice if MSN added that
little feature but your work around will definitely help until that day!

Thanks again!

I got a new machine for Christmas and wanted to give my old one to my
daughter but needed to clean up the hard drive and remove my personal
information and history. The old machine was using XP. I was really
frustrated too because when I went to MSN help and
settings/settings/internet options/temporary internet files/browsing
history/delete/form data and delete forms, the search history in MSN Live
Search did not delete or clear. I read Pebbles post and double clicked the
search box which brought up the history of my searches and then I
highlighted the ones I wanted to delete and deleted them by using the delete
button on the key board. That way I kept the ones I wanted and got rid of
the ones that I didn't want anymore. Since I am giving the old machine to my
daughter, I went ahead and deleted all of the searches. I felt like an idiot
because I couldn't figure this out and then I finally figured out that you
need to use the delete button on the key board to delete the search item. It
was way too simple. My new machine has Vista. When you go to internet
options/temporary interet files/browsing history/delete/form data in MSN
running Vista, the Live Search box clears. So if you don't want to clear all
your search results in MSN running Vista you should just do the double click
on the search box and remove the ones you don't want.
