how do I get rid of the live search? I don't want it and can't stand it.

There is no listing for it in the Control Panel Add/Remove programs.

Live Search where? Desktop search in the taskbar? Or Live Search as the search
provider in IE?

In IE6 there is not an option to set a search provider, so it is likely there as
a toolbar. Open IE and go to the menu and check the active toolbars, disabling
whatever you don't want. I know that wasn't very helpful, but I don't have any
PCs with IE6 running. You really should upgrade to IE7 or 8. In either browser,
you can choose your search provider quite easily.
